Tutoring Services for Students of All Ages

Prior to becoming a classroom teacher in 2002, I worked as a professional writer, editor, and public relations manager in the San Francisco Bay and Greater Kansas City areas. I earned a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential at UC Berkeley with an emphasis in Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development and a B.S. in Journalism. I have taught children and young adults of all ages.

My experience includes teaching Kindergarten and 1st Grade for the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District and 1st, 2nd, and 4th Grades for the Hayward Unified School District. In addition, I have taught students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade as an academic coach for SCORE! Educational Center and as a clinician for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes®. In addition to teaching children and teens, I have coached adults in writing organization and development for both college-level work and business correspondence.

As a private educator, I can realize my goals for all of my students:

to lead each of them to be inquisitive, thoughtful, productive, and confident learners and problem-solvers who explore and reach for their highest potential — personally and academically! Children especially need individualized attention, recognition of their unique talents and interests, and instruction by an enthusiastic educator who is dedicated to helping them achieve what they are capable of achieving.

To provide the most current educational practices, I collaborate with other professional educators, conduct assessments for area school districts,

maintain a membership to the International Reading Association, and read current education news through the California Teachers Association and a variety of other sources.
